Spend a day sketching in the sculpture galleries of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC!
Sophie Bahari Bomeisler, Dr. Betty Edwards’ eldest granddaughter, will take you through the museum galleries in an intimate and practical hands-on sketching class. Designed for those interested in learning sketching techniques and keeping a sketchbook, the ideal prerequisite for this class is to have taken the 5-Day Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain® Intensive Workshop, however it is also open to those who have drawing experience and training.
You will learn how to use your sketchbook as a tool, drawing with different mediums including graphite, ink and a specific technique using an ordinary felt tip pen, expanding upon the formal drawing instruction you have already received such as “sighting” and use of the “basic unit”; becoming more confident with quick drawing sketching techniques, and developing the habit of keeping a sketchbook.
The class will take place at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The museum’s tremendous collection within the sculpture galleries offers a wealth of subject matter to practice sketching; Sophie’s current favorites are the Greek and Roman, Egyptian, Asian, and Ancient American sculpture wings. This is a social and relaxed class where you will explore the museum together.

$160 (museum admission included)
Materials: Sophie will email you a supply list upon registration. The class only requires a few simple items such as a small sketchpad, pencils, pens and eraser

Accessibility: There are seating areas all around the museum for you to use while drawing. However, if you’d prefer to bring a folding stool, that is an option. Furthermore, there is elevator access throughout the building
